FROM FARM-STAYS TO THE MAZES
Surrounded by pristine jarrah forest, Loose Goose
Chalets in Nannup is a delightful farm-stay for
families or small groups. The accommodation has
won numerous awards over the years, including
a recent win in the micro-business category at
the 2009 Telstra Business Awards. The chalets
are wheelchair friendly and self-contained with
cooking facilities, a barbecue and DVD player
provided. Kids will love feeding the farm animals
(geese, guinea fowl, peacocks and peahens) each
afternoon, and there are also dogs, rabbits and
goats to provide amusement during the day. This
location is also ideal for older kids who want to
cut loose on the Munda Biddi bike trail that runs
alongside the property.
Cambray Cottages is also a popular for families
in Nannup to visit and to stay in one of their two
cottages, where kids can play with farm animals,
see the sheep being milked (a sight that I am also
curious to see), feed the orphan lambs and pick
fruit to eat from the orchard (season permitting).
It also serves up spectacular cheese made from
traditional techniques on site and are apparently
the only dedicated sheep-cheese maker in WA.
My favourite is the chilli feta.
Further out of town towards Busselton you'll
find The Mythic Mazes, which is good goofy fun
for young kids and open every day during school
holidays and long weekends. Also out this way is
Blackwood River Canoeing and campsite where
very reasonable prices.
In town, Nannup Putt Putt is the place to go for
a hilarious round of mini-golf on the picturesque
shores of the Blackwood River -- we were there on
a Saturday with beautiful weather and were still
the only ones on the course. The visitor centre is a

few minute's walk away and houses the original jail
cells that will spark the kid's imagination, plus there
a plenty of walking trails and the river to check out,
all within five minute's walking distance, which is
the real beauty of Nannup.
