Known more for its nature than its nightlife, things
in the Great Southern are starting to pick up.
The Great Southern Distillery at the Princess
Royal Harbour in Albany now opens Friday
nights as a cocktail lounge. The boutique distillery
produces premium quality spirits including vodka,
gin, grappe and brandy but the single malt whisky
remains the main focus.
Make a night of it at new nightspot The Jazz
Lounge @ the Bourbon Bar, recently opened in
Albany. The Lounge promotes local performers
and regularly has live entertainment. The venue is
a fully licensed bar with a wide range of alcoholic
and non-alcoholic beverages plus a tapas menu.
Every second Saturday night, get your dancing
shoes on and head to The Jazz Lounge for salsa
classes from 8pm to 9pm ($12 cover charge which
includes the lesson fee).

"wow factor" upon entry to the showroom and
highlight the company's core business, which
is providing sandalwood oil to leading French
perfumeries. The bottle stands just over one-metre
tall, rests on a one-metre tall pedestal and holds
120,000mL of liquid. It was designed and built in
Albany using local lacy sheoak and now miniature
replica perfume bottles (filled with delicious
Australian sandalwood oil) are being made so
visitors can take home a memory from the region.
There is also a cafe where you can enjoy snacks
or morning and afternoon tea or buy sandalwood
infused wines and other sandalwood products.
