Albany is home to some of the finest
local producers in Australia, mostly
boutique-farm operators with a
passion for fresh, organic food.
While some businesses have farm
gates for tourists to visit, you can
also find all of the region’s offerings
at the town’s weekend markets.
Nestled in a group of car parks on
Collie Street, the Albany Farmers Market takes place every Saturday
morning and showcases up to 30 different producers. There’s also the
Albany Boatshed Market, which graces the Albany Waterfront on Sundays
from 10am to 1pm. Why would you travel four hours just to get to the
farmers markets, you might ask. Well, besides the fact that they’re among
the best in the country, while you’re stocking up on your gourmet grocery
needs for the weeks ahead back home, you can also pick up your lunch
at the markets and drop by one of the town’s stunning picnic areas
they’re pretty much as good as they get.

• Mount Melville Up here you’ll
get 360-degree panoramic views
of the Porongurups, the ocean
and the Albany town harbour.
The Mount is set within native
bush with walk trails and a
sealed road at the top.
