Sandra Paskett is the owner/manager of Laurelville Manor in York.
With a passion for historical architecture and all things Avon, she lists
her favourite York experiences.
York antiques | The Antiques and Collectors Fair (April 23-25) is
establishing a wide reputation for both furniture and collectables, and
is a great complement to the town’s permanent antique stores.
Gourmet Food and Wine Festival | A big favourite! Showcases the region’s
finest delicacies. (June 25-27)
Mill Art Gallery | The largest regional gallery in Australia, with a terrific
collection. The Great Southern Gallery on the highway is also brilliant.
Architecture | Historic mansions and hotels, renovated with a
contemporary edge. Don’t just wander past; go in and have a look.
Avon Valley businesses | Unlike many tourist areas, York businesses
are not a part of a large corporation. It’s not the same old winery/
food/gift shop set-up.
