‘Shop til you drop’: it’s a philosophy you can follow easily in this region.
There is a certain something about the shopping down south, with its
great boutiques, unique pieces, little trinkets and large purchases.
There really is something for everyone: from Busselton, where specialty
shops reside in Fig Tree Lane, to Dunsborough, with its huge hub of
retail activity, to Margaret River, where there are antique shops
alongside the surf shops. Don’t forget that many of the wineries also
have gift shops attached to them – they are a treasure trove of interesting
pieces and hard-to-find knick knacks. There are also many markets
on offer around the region for you to forage through. Look closely: you
never know what you may find.
Dunsborough town | The spot for one-off treasures of the tasteful kind,
with a host of designer clothes and homewares stores across the main
township. There are also some stunning galleries with affordable and
accessible art, and jewellery stores with locally inspired designs.
Bussell Highway in Margaret River | A popular shopping hub, Bussell
Highway offers clothes, souvenirs, gifts, art, furniture, books, and
gourmet food items dotted between cafes and restaurants for the
ultimate retail therapy experience.
Busselton | Fig Tree Lane between Kent and Prince streets is home
to boutique fashion, jewellery and homewares, and nearby you’ll
find Boulevard and Busselton shopping centres for stock-standard
retail options. There are surf and second-hand stores around too if
either of those excites.
Home to many an artisan, there is a huge number of fine art, jewellery,
furniture and photographic galleries throughout the region. It would not
be a trip down south without at least one look at some of the art coming
out of the region. From the contemporary to the handcrafted, there is
no shortage of originality, and the talents of the acclaimed artists are
incredible – go and have a look for yourself at our pick of the best.
